(Bruce Lewis) I usually write on this blog about what OurDoings offers you, either by explaining how existing features work, or introducing a new feature. But this time I'm asking for something: your vote, today. Voting closes at 11:59pm Pacific time tonight. Sorry for the late notice; I only recently understood that voting was open to people other than programmers who are already writing Paypal applications.
There is a $50,000 grand prize in the Paypal Developer Challenge. Winning would provide OurDoings capital and attention that would help it grow and improve. But to win, OurDoings first needs to be a finalist. And to be a finalist, it needs votes from the Paypal developer community, which can include you, even if you aren't a Paypal developer. Paypal wrote, "Most of the activities that we've seen are completely fine-tweets, blog posts, email campaigns to friends and family. Just please refrain from offering anything in exchange for a vote."
So you don't have to be a Paypal developer assessing the technical and business merits of my idea. Any reason to vote is a good one, almost. I'll make it clear:
Thinking Bruce is a likable guy is a good reason to vote for OurDoings. Bruce offering you lunch in exchange for a vote is not.
Thinking $50,000 would be a fitting reward for Bruce's wife's patience in letting him spend all this time creating OurDoings is a good reason. Bruce offering you lunch with his wife in exchange for a vote is not.
It's fine to vote because you like OurDoings features (e.g. Dropbox integration) other than the new feature that puts it in the contest.
Or just make up your own reason. Please vote. It does require setting up a Paypal account, joining the Paypal Developer community and entering an "Other" area of expertise if you aren't a programmer. But you won't need a credit card or bank account; you just give them contact information. It takes 2 or 3 minutes, depending how fast you type.
Visit the Paypal X Developer Network, click the yellow VOTE NOW button in the center image, and from there another VOTE NOW link, then sign into PayPal or create a new account. Then you'll create a Paypal Developer account using a box like the one shown below. Finally you'll be redirected to a page about the contest with a Search box on the right. Enter 1096 in the search box. Click the first result, then vote. Your support is greatly appreciated!
